Swan hotel

History

Construction of The Silent Peacock hotel started in 1992, and whilst laying the foundations the construction company unearthed an ancient graveyard dating back to the time of the Roman empire. Archaeologists came in to determine and preserve the ancient findings, that delayed the hotels construction for about a year.

The hotel owner was aiming to provide a high standard of class, ensuring the latest modern facilities were available for the community; and when in 1995 the Silent Peackock hotel opened her doors for the first time, that goal was more then reached. The hotel has 4 floors and over 30 rooms, a great serving staff, restaurant with 1 Michelin star, laundry service, room service, a great bar with live jazz performances, spa, cinema, beauty and wellness center. They were not only welcoming guests from nearby townships but also the local community. Everything was going really well until in 2003 a terrible murder took place in one of the rooms, The Silent Peacock Hotel was turned into a murder scene.

A young woman was found death in a bathtub, her throat was cut open and a knife was laying next to the tub. Blood was on every wall in that room. When the police press officer informed the local journalists, they were told about a cruel murder that had been taken place in the Silent Peacock Hotel. The man who had occupied the room was taken into custody not so long after the murder was discovered, and he confessed to having murdered the young woman.

After the murder strange things began occurring in the hotel during the dark of night. Lights began flashing, unusual sounds heard, a ghostly female voice whispering in the hallways. Guests were also speaking about windows that would open by themselves, eventually fewer guests would stay at the Silent Peacock Hotel, it became more and more abandoned and slowly decayed. The once great restaurant was not so great anymore and the elevator stopped working. In 2009 the situation was not manageable any more and The silent Peacock Hotel closed its doors.

However in 2015 the Silent Peackock hotel got a new owner. After a huge effort and labour, the Silent Peacock was renewed and renamed the Swan Hotel flattering the island Dancing Swan. Retaining aspects of its old glory with state of the art additions.
